How the firm works

A syndicate of Chartered Accountants. Anil Khatri and Associates is a syndicate of Chartered Accountants who practise independently and work together on each client's affairs. In a factory the GST position affects costing, and costing has a bearing on transfer pricing; all of it is reflected in the accounts and the tax return. The syndicate considers these matters together, so that the advice on tax and GST is consistent with the advice on accounts and finance.

We start with the records. Advice on a tax position or a GST credit is given only after the documents behind it have been read: the stock register, the challans, the agreements between group companies and the bank's sanction letter. Many of the notices brought to us can be traced to a record that was never reconciled.

A Chartered Accountant handles each client. Each client has a named Chartered Accountant who knows the business and answers for the work, and others in the syndicate join as the matter requires. Staff prepare the papers; a Chartered Accountant reviews and signs them.

Advice is written down. An opinion on tax or GST is given in writing. It records the facts relied on and the law as at that date, with section numbers. If the law changes later, the client has a dated record to refer to.

We visit. Much of the work for manufacturing clients is done at the factory, with the staff who keep the stores, production and dispatch records. A figure is easier to test once the shop floor that produced it has been seen.

Independence. Where the firm is a company's statutory auditor, section 144 of the Companies Act, 2013 prohibits it from keeping the company's books, running its internal audit or providing management services to it, or to its holding or subsidiary company. Other work for that company, such as taxation, GST and transfer pricing, requires the approval of its board or audit committee. We state this at the start, before the engagement letter is signed.

We decline work that is outside our remit. Some assignments call for a licence or registration that the firm does not hold, or for a larger team than it has. In that case the client is told so, and where it would help we suggest the kind of professional to approach.

Where we work

Anil Khatri and Associates has one office, at Office at Plot 08, Eden Complex, Gangapur Road, Nashik 422222. Nashik is the primary base, and there is no other office.

Our clients are spread across Nashik district: Satpur, Ambad, Sinnar, Gonde and Igatpuri, Dindori, Niphad, Nashik Road, Malegaon and Yeola. Each area is described on the Nashik page. The firm also works with clients elsewhere in Maharashtra and in Indore and other places in Madhya Pradesh. Groups further afield, in India and abroad, are served where the work can be done remotely or through planned visits. The Maharashtra page explains how work outside Nashik runs.

What you will not find on this site

The Code of Ethics of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India governs what a firm may say about itself. For that reason this site carries no fees, client names, testimonials or ratings, and it makes no comparison with other firms. Audit work is described on its own page only.

What the site does give are the facts the Code allows: the registration details, the Chartered Accountants in the syndicate with their qualifications, the services offered and articles written by the firm's Chartered Accountants. To ask how a particular piece of work would be handled, contact the firm.
