Business advisory for manufacturers

An owner who reads margin and cash only from the annual accounts learns of a loss-making programme a year late. We provide CFO-level review, budgets, MIS, cash forecasts, group structuring and bank packs for owner-managed manufacturers and multi-plant groups.

Most owner-managed manufacturers do not employ a full-time finance head, yet they make decisions on pricing, capacity and borrowing that need one. Without a regular review, those decisions rest on last year's audited profit. From our Nashik office we review the numbers at fixed intervals and prepare budgets, bank packs and group maps from the records the factory already keeps.

Finance decisions that factories face

A forging or machining unit in Satpur or Sinnar may take on two new OEM programmes in a year while its accounts team stays the same size. The cost of that gap appears later: a renewal in which the bank questions the projections, or a programme found to have run below contribution for several quarters. Our review uses the books and cost records the factory already keeps and is held at a fixed interval, so that margin, cash and structure are seen before a bank review or the tax year-end calls for an answer. These are general notes, with the law as at 1 October 2026.

  • Price-downs, volume and cash lag

An annual price-down and a 60- to 90-day receivable cycle move profit and cash at different times. The budget therefore shows volume, price and collection lag as separate lines, alongside last year's net profit.

  • Cost and contribution by product

A short monthly pack, drawn from the cost sheet and the ledger, shows contribution by part number or customer line. Owners use it to decide which programmes to keep. Deeper cost-sheet work is described under manufacturing finance.

  • Second plant and group structure

A new plot in Gonde or Dindori, a separate selling entity or a job-work firm alters rent, interest, stock transfers and bank security. We map the entities, facilities and tax effects before the structure is fixed.

  • Working capital and the bank pack

A renewal or enhancement of the sanction is examined against stock, debtors and projections, which must agree with the management or audited accounts. The pack is built from the same figures used for GST and income tax.

  • Owner drawings and family cash

Household and business cash frequently share one account in an owner-managed unit. Separating the two in the MIS gives later discussions on tax planning and succession a clear starting figure.

Common questions

Is advisory the same as bookkeeping?

No. Accounting maintains the ledgers, and advisory work uses those figures for budgets, cash and structural decisions. Some manufacturers use both services. Others already employ an in-house accountant and need only the review layer.

How often do you meet?

The interval is agreed at the start, commonly monthly or quarterly. Meetings can be held at the plant or at the office, and a written note follows each cycle.

Can you help before we add a second unit?

Yes. Entity choice, GST registration, bank facilities and related-party pricing should be mapped before commitments on land or machinery are final. This work is often done alongside taxation and manufacturing finance.

Does this replace a finance director?

It provides senior finance judgement at intervals without a full-time hire. Day-to-day controls and statutory deadlines still require someone inside the business, or a separate accounting engagement.
